Futsal is a team sport related to football. Also called indoor football, mini-football or indoor soccer, its specific rules were created by Argentinian Juan Carlos Ceriani Gravier between 1930 and 1933.
The matches are played between two teams made up of 4 field players and a goalkeeper. Each team can count up to seven substitutes, whose permutations are unlimited during the meeting. Substitutions can be made at any time during the game (a player must be completely off the pitch to be substituted).
The match is played in two halves of 20 or 25 minutes depending on whether the playing time is effective or not, with a break between the two periods, which must not exceed 15 minutes.
The teams are entitled to one minute of non-cumulative time-out in each of the two periods.
